Nick Dabbs
Guitar, Keyboard & Percussion
Director since 2009; over 25 years teaching and performing; former member of Dallas Crane; B.Mus (ACU), Grad Dip Ed (ECU); Australian Youth Choir touring conductor (2002).
Forty-plus musicians teach for Keyed Up Music across Perth. Every one holds a Working With Children Check and a music qualification, or is completing one, and many trained here in Perth at WAAPA, UWA or ECU. Here is who will teach your child.
Nick Dabbs has been teaching, directing and performing for over 25 years. He is a former member of the Melbourne band Dallas Crane, completed his Bachelor of Music at ACU in 1998 and his Graduate Diploma of Education at ECU in 2002, and was a touring conductor with the Australian Youth Choir's tour of Great Britain in 2002.
He has been Director of Music at schools in Melbourne and Perth, and still teaches at St Emilie's, Canning Vale and St Paul's, Mt Lawley. Since 2009 he and his wife Therese have run Keyed Up Music together.
Every Keyed Up teacher must hold a Working With Children Check and a recognised music degree (or be completing one) from an approved university or conservatorium, or have equivalent professional experience. We cross-reference each teacher with previous employers and referees. New teachers complete a Keyed Up induction, and a senior teacher observes, reviews and supports their lessons each term.
