How lessons work

  1. Find your school

We teach at 50+ Perth primary and secondary schools. Check the Venues page to see if your child's school is one of them, and which instruments it runs.

  2. Enrol online

Fill in one short form: your child's details, the venue, the instrument, and whether you would like group or individual lessons.

  3. We match a teacher and a time

Most students are on a rotating timetable so they don't miss the same class each week. We confirm a place and time at a venue convenient to you.

  4. Lessons start, music begins

Beginners' lessons are half an hour. Your child gets their own book, a practice planner each term, and a progress report each semester.

Two formats

Group or individual

Group lessons

Run at school in small classes (up to 3 for guitar, up to 4 for piano, each child with their own headphones). The teacher moves between students and works with each child where they are. From $23.50 per lesson.

Individual lessons

One-to-one, 20 or 30 minutes, suited to exam preparation and faster progress. From $28.75 (20 min) and $41.50 (30 min).

Our teaching approach

We teach reading and writing, not just memorising

Many instrumental programmes just focus on memorising a set number of pieces. Our focus is that students learn to read and write music alongside their playing. Once a child can read music they become an independent learner, and that is when their progress, and their enjoyment, really takes off.

Exams and reports

We prepare many students for AMEB examinations each year and they do very well. For exam students we usually recommend an individual 30-minute lesson. Every child receives a progress report each semester, much like a school report, covering behaviour, attitude, and instrumental and theory progress.
